At Nurturing Village, we recognize the tremendous strength and courage it takes to walk through the doors of our practice. That being said, we want you to be able to have as much information here to make you feel more comfortable about our potential partnership together.
Our family practice combines counseling and coaching practices, recognizing that you, as the parent / guardian, not only know your child best but also have the greatest ability to impact change for your child’s social skills, emotional regulation, and behavior. While each child and family are different, here’s what you can expect to see from Nurturing Village:
– Typically, the initial visit is just a chance to meet with care givers and talk about family history, routines, strengths, and concerns.
– The next few sessions are spent getting to know your child, typically through play.
– We will then take time, as parent / guardian and counselor TOGETHER, to form goals and talk about “how we’ll get there together.” This is a collaborative process that will provide us a “road map” of where we are going and how we will know when we get there!
– After this time, sessions will combine both work with your child and collaborative work as adults – and will depend on the type of services we collectively decide would best meet the needs of your family.
